On 18 October 2006 the Centre for Resources, Energy and Environmental Law hosted a Pre-Conference Workshop prior to the 30th AMPLA Conference. The Workshop was held at the offices of BHP for which the Centre was most grateful. The speaker for the Workshop was Professor Carlton Stoiber, who is a global authority on nuclear law and policy, having held many leading positions in US Government for over 30 years, including as Counsellor for Nuclear Policy at the US Mission in Vienna with responsibility for relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Professor Stoiber has also been a consultant to international organisations and lectured at a number of institutions, including the University of Montpelier in France.
4 and 5 July 2006 - Workshop - "Examining trends toward individual title over communal lands: Implications for conflict resolution, resource management and sustainability". Presenters included Professor Juanita Pienaar, University of Stellenbosch, South Africa; Professor Richard Boast, University of Wellington and Mrs Margaret Stephenson, University of Queensland.
13 July 2006 - "Development and Agricultural Revitalisation: the South African Land Reform Perspective", presented by Professor Juanita Pienaar, University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Commentary was provided by Mr Steven McIntosh, Senior Adviser at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation. The Workshop was attended by 60 participants and was an overwhelming success. Professor Stoiber was also the guest speaker at the 30th AMPLA Conference which was held at the Crown Complex.
